Lighthouse Church Ottawa

I attend Lighthouse Church in Ottawa and serve on a team with a unique role of maintaining our church website. Recently we did a rebuild. A different design, a different site, a different host, everything. I started contributing after the foundational design elements were in place, and I had some creative freedom as well. Completed within a month. The goal was to deliver a site that looks "inviting" while creatively reflecting the church's story, values, community and what we actually do.

What Was Delivered

A Next.js app deployed on Vercel. The UI is light-themed and rich in images, following the pre-existing Lighthouse brand guide while adopting Claude Design's typical pairing of italics and a magenta accent for emphasis in text.

  • 30+ pages in total, covering four campus congregations, the Academy, events, and every next step a new visitor could possibly take after joining a Sunday service.
  • About pages. Who We Are, Our Beliefs, Our Team, Locations, and a "Plan Your Visit" page curated for each congregation, so a first time visitor knows correctly what to expect at any of our locations.
  • Event pages. A page showing all upcoming events and each event has a details page. We also have flagship events e.g. Winds of Change and IMAGE Conference. Flagship event pages have full landing pages with different colour palettes and font families to help reflect its brand.
  • Academy pages. Three parts. Each with three classes. Each class gets its own details page with a call to action.
  • Contact page. A hub for all ways to connect with the Church including a Calendly integration for booking appointments with Pastoral Care.
  • SEO controls on all pages. Meta tags, OG images, canonical URLs and redirects for old URLs so search visibility isn't too impacted.
